The Wine

Country of origin:

South Africa

Region:

Swartland

Pinotage is widely renowned as the grape of South Africa. This Pinotage hails from a single site in a desert-influenced location of Swartland. Whilst its searing sun coaxes the grapes to perfect ripeness, the cooling breezes imbue the fruit with great depth and flavour. This results in a wine packed with ripe flavours of cherry and liquorice. A fantastic easy-going red which can be enjoyed for all occasions. A great accompaniment to grilled lamb with a roasted pepper sauce or pork meatballs.

The Winemaker

Jacques Theron
Winemaker:

Jacques Theron

Jacques Theron has been hands on, working in wineries since he graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2003 after receiving a Bachelor's degree in Viticulture and Enology. In 2017 he became the Senior Winemaker at Riebeek Valley Wine Co where his raison d'être is to express the terroir in each glass of wine. He enjoys understanding and harnessing the diversified terroir of the Kasteelberg Mountain and the individuality of each vintage to create singular wines.

"By using both trellised and bush vines, we have managed to capture the purity of fruit that Pinotage has to offer whilst maintaining a fantastic depth of flavour and structure. A great easy-drinking Pinotage for all occasions." - Jacques Theron, Winemaker.

Lovely smooth wine, heritage vines make it quite sweet but not so much as to make it sickly
