The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Languedoc
Languedoc is renowned for being one of the most diverse winemaking regions in France. With its balmy Mediterranean climate, it is the ideal playground for winemakers experimenting with different grape varieties and winemaking practices. "La Sirene" translates to mermaid in English and this wine is truly the gem of the Mediterranean. With its complex and subtle black and red fruit flavours, it gracefully intertwines hints of cinnamon producing an indulgent treat to be enjoyed on all occasions.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Gavin Crisfield
Gavin Crisfield trained as a sommelier before training in winemaking at Plumpton College, East Sussex. He was general manager of Domaine de la Sauvageonne in the Languedoc before making his own wine for the first time in 2009 from grapes grown in cool vineyards close to St Jean de la Blaquière.
"Powerful, complex and delicate all at once, this wine has a nose of sweet black raspberries, raspberry jam and cinnamon giving way to a rich palate with dense mouth-coating flavours." - Gavin Crisfield, Winemaker.
