The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Roussillon

The Grenache, Syrah and old vine Carignan combine wonderfully on the nose. Their black fruit intensity is underscored by black olive tapenade and smoky minerality. The palate pours out the luscious and fleshy texture of ripe Mediterranean fruit but this is tempered by both the freshness of its minerality and the coolness swept in from the Pyrenean foothills. This freshness of retained acidity streaks through the complex structure of flavours which the minerality brings, pulled up from the grains of granite soil by the vine during the wetter growing season and flushed into its offspring, the grapes.

The Winemaker

David Bleuze and Kim Tidy
Winemaker:

David Bleuze and Kim Tidy

"Of all the cru and single village wines of the high Roussillon, Lesquerde has the most finesse. Its high altitude, exceptionally low yields (less than 20hl/ha) and mineral rich soils are the keys to this finesse." - Kim Tidy, Winemaker.
