Rioja's flagship grape variety is undoubtedly Tempranillo. Although Rioja can, and often is, a blend including Graciano and Garnacha, such was the purity of the Tempranillo fruit available from this vintage that we just let the Queen of Rioja fly solo. We let it soften in oak barrels, plus much needed bottle time, to yield a finished wine with all the virtues a good Rioja needs; attractive deep ruby colour, intense aromas of wild berries, spice and cocoa, smooth tannins and long-lasting enjoyable taste.

From an old bodega of prime vineyards in Alfaro, Rioja, that has an enviable reputation for making first class wines in the traditional Rioja style. Wine has been made here for six generations now. What can we tell you about Rioja that you don't already know? Spain's pre-eminent wine region has long held the crown, producing wines that were aged both in cask and bottle, according to a rigid quality scheme, to deliver the utmost satisfaction.
