The 'Amaren' range (meaning 'of my mother' in Basque) pays homage to the mother of Juan Luis Canas - Angeles. So the eponymous wine of the range really is the jewel in the crown. The grapes for this wine are harvested from the very best vineyard sites and received by Juan Luis himself on the sorting table, where only the best are hand-selected. It sounds overkill, but they wouldn't do it if it didn't make a difference. And the difference is a wine with maximum flavour, complexity and enjoyment.

Bodegas Amaren is a project created by Rioja top dog, Luis Canas, to producer wines with maximum expression of the grape variety in honour of his mother, Angeles. The wines are made from fruit grown in challenging conditions, and in their struggle toward ripeness they pick up the full potential of aroma and flavour that the variety is capable of.
