The Wine

Country of origin:

New Zealand

Region:

Marlborough

Produced in small quantities, this wine proves the flavour impact of contrasting geographical makeup. Site #1 - a mix of river stones and Kaituna clay gives orange blossom, peach, honeysuckle and richness. Site #2 is made up of recently deposited Wairau river stones, gravel and silt, bringing a delicate citrus, apple flavour profile, crisp acidity and fine minerality. The texture on the palate is brilliant - you'll struggle to find a better food match than classic moules marinieres with a side of fries.

The Winemaker

Beth Forrest
Winemaker:

Beth Forrest

The team at Forrest have been working tirelessly to make lower ABV wines by following more traditional processes in the vineyards and winery, not looking to technology to do the work for them. The biggest problem was getting the balance between the sugar and acid right, especially the sugar. Through meticulous vineyard work and strict temperature control through fermentations they've achieved what they set out to do - make naturally lower ABV wines that are wonderfully balanced and deliver top-notch drinking.

"An attractive nose of royal gala apple, orange blossom and nashi pear, with a hint of ripe stonefruit and honeysuckle. On the palate, this beautifully balanced wine is rich, soft and rounded, showing savoury notes with a weighty, oily texture. A hint of natural fruit sweetness leads to a lingering exotic finish; serve chilled, perfect on a hot summer's day." - Beth Forrest, Winemaker.
