I have searched and searched for the rosé that I want (selfish I know). That pretty, pale pink, light, tiny-bit-sweet but devastatingly, mouth-wateringly refreshing rosé. And now I've found it. The young Languedoc gun of a winemaker, Jean Marie, may have eyebrows that caterpillars are sexually drawn to, but by 'eck he can make wine. Especially rosé. And I just love it.

This is a great little blend using one of Piedmont's flagship varieties, Barbera, to express the intense red fruit that so many Northern Italian red grapes can offer. But the small addition of some special Pinot Noir, or Pinot Nero to the locals, gives this racy little rosé a touch of ripeness and generosity, just softening the edge of the redcurrant and cranberry character, resulting in a wine that is complete with or without food.

This Chiaretto is a blend of the typical red grape varieties of the region: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. Together they offer the wine a wealth of fresh red fruit character. Despite the very gentle extraction here, those fresh red fruit notes are in abundance but lifted even further by a lovely freshness thanks to the coolness of the nights during the growing season. A very summery drop indeed.

Vic's main man in the winery, Borja, has afforded two of the best Garnacha and Tempranillo parcels, normally destined for a quality red Rioja, to make a superb Rosado that's exactly what we want these days - a nice pale colour, nice and dry but packed full of all your favourite red fruits. Always innovating, we have been making beautiful pale rosé for longer that it's been fashionable. This Blackfoot has been shown just a bit of skin, giving it the very gentlest touch of pink. Cabernet Sauvignon is capable of making some seriously good rosé and that's what we had our team out in the McLaren Vale do for us here! They've produced a gorgeous, light coloured rosé full of red fruit with a little hint of that classic Cabernet cassis.
