Whisky is the marriage of 'new make' spirit followed by time ageing in oak. This expression from legendary Scottish producer, The Macallan, is aged exclusively in ex-sherry casks, which are handpicked, as is the tradition at The Macallan Distillery, from Jerez in southern Spain. Before making their way to the Scottish Highlands, they were filled with some very fine, luscious, and rich oloroso sherry. Over time, in the ageing warehouse, they have imparted depth of character and nuances of flavour into the finished whisky, resulting in a perfectly balanced dram that has been matured to perfection.

Founded way back in 1824 by Alexander Reid on a plateau above the river Spey in north-east Scotland. Today The Macallan is one of Scotland's most sought after single malt producers and is a benchmark of quality for the whole industry. With a long rich history and an insatiable thirst for the very best quality - from the careful tending of the barley fields to the selecting and curing of the casks they’ll use to mature the new make spirit - nothing is left to chance and that's why the whiskies from The Macallan are so exceptional.

A luscious, rounded and full-bodied palate shows notes of ginger and raisin that are supported by spice and lovely oak intensity that should be served neat, with a dash of ice-cold water or on the rocks, in a cherished tumbler.
