The first spirit rolled off the original stills way back in 1815 when founders, two farmers on the Island of Islay, Donald and Alexander Johnson, founded and built the Laphroaig Distillery. Those original traditions and processes have been passed down by distillery managers ever since. Ian Hunter, Denise Nicole, Iain Henderson and the incumbent John Campbell were all protective custodians of the art of Laphroaig and the unique nature of the whisky - the use of the water from the Kilbride Stream, hand-cut peat, floor malted barley, copper alchemy and, of course, the subtlety of oak aging. Combined, they create the most richly flavoured of all Scotch whiskies!
