Each barrel of Cognac sat in the cellars at Maison Tesseron, over time, develop their own individual and unique characters and to create XO Passion, casks are individually tasted and marked by their flavour profile. The team, headed up by 3rd generation family member Alfred Tesseron, are on the hunt for eau-de-vies that show distinct floral fragrances, are light in style and are delicately balanced by notes of spices. The finished blend comprises of more than 30 different Cognacs all made from estate grown Ugni Blanc grapes and, my word, is it something. A brandy with magnificent poise and exceptional elegance.
The Distillery The Distillery
Maison Tesseron produces some of the finest expressions of aged Cognac, yet even today flies a little under the radar. Which is why we love it that little bit more. With a collection of excellent vineyards planted across the region in the crus of Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois they excel in crafting a range that is pretty much exclusively of XO age and some of their reserves date back to the early 19th Century and consist of Cognacs made in the times before phylloxera ravaged the vineyards of Europe.
The Perfect Serve The Perfect Serve
This is amazing and such is the delicate floral flavour profile that sipping it neat with a little ice is the only way to get the most out of it. Pour 25ml into a brandy glass add one ice cube and swirl gently to help the ice cube melt slightly and mix with the brandy. Sip it slowly and smell it often. A magical liquid of immense character.
