The Spirit

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Cognac

A stunning bottling from legendary Cognac producer Tesseron which is designated as extra old and contains a cognac that was distilled back in 1976! All the grapes are grown in the Grande Champagne cru and once off the still the noble liquid is aged in Limousin oak barrels and released when perfectly matured. Tesseron, for us, is the greatest of the lesser-known cognacs and Lot No.76 is wonderfully perfumed, showing ripe peachy fruits, balanced by oak, nuts and a wonderful gentle, soft and smooth finish.

The Distillery

Tesseron

Maison Tesseron produces some of the finest expressions of aged Cognac, yet even today flies a little under the radar. Which is why we love it that little bit more. With a collection of excellent vineyards planted across the region in the crus of Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois they excel in crafting a range that is pretty much exclusively of XO age and some of their reserves date back to the early 19th Century and consist of Cognacs made in the times before phylloxera ravaged the vineyards of Europe.

The Perfect Serve

Tesseron Lot No. 76 XO Tradition

The nose on this magnificent cognac is exceptionally complex and will develop and open up in your glass, so it is important to give it time to do that. Pour a nice measure into a brandy bowl glass with a single chunk of ice, swirl and allow the ice a little time to melt and mingle with the spirit, opening up all the complexities held within.
